These organizations, led by David, aim to support fathers and empower them to actively engage in their children's lives. One particular program, the Special Father's Network, focuses on mentoring fathers raising children with special needs. This blog post explores the story behind these organizations, their mission, and the invaluable support they provide to fathers and families.
David's journey as a father and a wealth advisor led him to uncover a shocking statistic—approximately 24 million children in America grow up in father-absent homes. This realization, coupled with the adverse effects of father absence on children's lives, motivated David to take action. He recognized the need to encourage father involvement, especially in cases involving children with special needs. David's personal experience and compassion for single mothers who hadn't signed up to be in that role inspired him to create the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative in 1997.
